This is an easy to use jig for use on a router table to produce accurate box comb joints. Well made and safe in use the Axminster Box Comb Jig will produce box comb joints in 6mm, 10mm & 12mm segments with its included 3 comb plates and matching cutters. Consisting of a sturdy "traveller" made in 3 parts that carries the work over the router cutter with an integral handle, and using a rigid alloy table insert with slide mounts to guide the "traveller" accurately to produce a perfect joint. Ideal for drawers where the striking symmetry of the joint will be a highlight of the work, especially where a contrasting wood is used for the drawer base. Able to cope with asymmetric components, ie a drawer with a front that is thicker than the other components to enable a handle to be inset or allow a moulding decoration. A box comb joint is exceptionally strong due to the enormous amount of glue surface area, and so will withstand quite heavy loads. The Micro Fence® Circle Jig Complete easily mounts on your router to add precision usually found only in machine tooling with tack-sharp .001" read outs thanks to our patented micrometer dial/spindle assembly. This makes the jig unique for producing even the most demanding of cuts like those required when cutting mating radiuses (as in the case of a surround of solid stock around a plywood or composite table top).
It pivots from a stainless steel trammel pin and allows easy, precise, and repeatable circle cutting from 6-48 inches in diameter.
An aluminum sub-fence is included with every Circle Jig Complete allowing it to perform parallel straight cuts which is useful for shelving dadoes, drawer dividers, cassette slots for audio cabinets or even dentil mouldings.
We highly recommend using the Stabilizer Bar accessory for any Circle Jig set-up and especially when making heavier cuts or longer radii. It maximizes rigidity and affords the most precise cutting possible. Our recommendation is to employ the Stabilizer Bar/Stabilizer Bar Levelers every 24" - 30" to support the stainless steel rods parallel to the work surface.
